You will spend far more time together as husband and wife than you will in planning for your wedding, so we want to help you prepare appropriately.
We understand that there are many pressing concerns and we want to be sensitive to them--from location, to wedding planners, to flowers--all of them will help make your wedding incredible. However, none of them will help your marriage. So, first things first.
Since marriage is created by God, He alone gets to define it. Marriage is not merely a civil agreement between two parties; it is a sacred covenant that springs from the very heart of the One who created it. And it was designed to glorify Him.
Far from our normal thinking, marriage is not about efficiency, economics, or even sex. Marriage is about God. Husbands and wives were designed with certain roles. These roles serve to demonstrate the relationship that Jesus Christ has with His church.
Our goal in this process is not the preservation of your engagement, but rather to prepare you to live together as husband and wife in this most sacred of covenants.
What do I do now?
In order to assist you, we ask that you apply at least six months prior to your anticipated wedding date. Here is what you do:
- Fill out the Information Sheet for Couples and read over the PC3 Wedding Procedures.
- Return completed forms to the office.
- You will be scheduled for an Initial Interview within two weeks.
The Initial Interview will give us a chance to explain the process, answer any questions that you may have, review your forms, and help us learn more about you.
After the Initial Interview, we will schedule your Pre-Marital Counseling, which will consist of eight, one-hour sessions and will take place 3-4 months prior to your wedding date.
Your marriage is something that we take very seriously and want to do everything we can to help you prepare. We look forward to walking with you as you get ready to walk with one another.
