Q: Do I have to be a member of Port City to be in a group?
A: NO, Our mission at Port City is to reach people and help them walk with God and that includes those inside our walls as well as outside. We do not believe the mission is about only those who come in our doors but the entire City of Wilmington and beyond. Around Port City, we call this a Kingdom approach.
Q: Will I be accepted into a small group regardless of my religious background?
A: YES, Small groups are open, accepting atmospheres where love and compassion for one another permeates the group to create authentic relationships or COMMUNITY.
Q: Where do small groups meet?
A: They meet during the weeks at varying times throughout Wilmington in homes. Some meet over early morning coffee and others in the evenings.
Q: Is child care provided?
A: Our goal as a church is to make it as convenient as possible for those attending Port City to attend a small group. We have childcare reimbursement that your leader can tell you more about.
Q: What happens in a typical small group?
A: Acts 2:42-47 speaks of the early church studying scripture, fellowshipping, breaking bread and praying together daily from house to house, meeting needs of others as they occurred. At Port City, we approach our groups in a similar manner. The group will go through studies ranging from Books of the Bible to marriage studies to simple accountability in everyday life. Struggles are shared and prayed for and care given to each one. Food and fellowship are had as meaningful relationships are built. The goal is to grow with each other in authentic relationships and with Christ. Periodically, groups will go out to eat together, the beach, etc... simply doing life together.
Q: How can I find out more?
A: You can get more information about small groups by emailing Lisa Stikeleather, our Small Group Coordinator.
