So last night was awesome! How cool to be back?! I thought it was so great that we jumped right in and talked about what is and should be the essence of our walks with Christ: LOVE.

The scripture that Brian used was so powerful, so simple, such great reminders.

1 Corinthians 13:1-3
Basically this scripture is saying that if we “do” all these things (speak in tongues, have the gift of prophecy, give to the poor) but we do not love, it is NOTHING. That is huge. We try so hard to do so much, when really we are called to love God, be loved by Him, and let everything flow from that…everything…or we really are doing nothing.

1 John 4:7-12
The part of this scripture that really gets me is the end when it reminds us that God’s love is seen through us since He can’t be seen. We have been given the privilege of being Christ’s expression to people by how we love!

This series already is challenging me and reminding me of what God truly desires from us….because sometimes I don’t know. I think I know what He wants (me to do good things) but He wants my heart. He wants to shape it and love me with His mighty love so that I will love others. Love. Simply, Love. That’s it. That’s the gospel. When we are loving because of God, Christ will be seen and lives will change.
