We at PC3 are passionate about providing opportunities that position people to join God in what He is already doing in the world—across the street and around the globe. Our desire is to be strategic in having impact for God’s Kingdom, and we are always seeking him on where and how he would have us serve. As God leads, we look for opportunities to maximize the gifts and passions of the body at PC3.
Please click the various categories below to find out more about each of these opportunities.
Local Missions
Participation in local missions is a great way to meet other people from our church, serve together and make a difference in our community!
Short-Term Missions (STMs)
We feel that short-term missions at PC3 should be an extension of our mission: to reach people and help them walk with God. Through short-term missions at PC3, we hope to reach and serve others, and also to provide opportunities for individuals who go to develop their walks by doing so.
If you are interested in being part of a short-term mission team, it is important that you begin preparation well in advance; click on the download below of general information and next steps. Also consider how others can participate with you; click on the downloads below regarding sending and supporting for more on this. To view our current opportunities and download an application, check out our short-term mission schedule.
Please note that there is training required for all short-term missions; by applying for a mission, you are committing to complete that training. View the training schedule to sign up to attend the modules. For more information about the training, download the ‘Required Training’ document below.
If you have specific questions, e-mail missions at PC3. Please include your name and complete contact information.
Extended-Term Missions
If you are part of PC3 and feel God may be calling you to serve Him abroad for six months or longer, we would love to walk through that process with you. To get the process started, e-mail the following information to missions at PC3: your name, phone number(s), e-mail address, how long you have actively attended PC3, how long you have actively been involved in small group, your small group leader's name, where you serve at PC3 (also how long you've served there and who in that ministry would know you), current occupation and/or student status, description of short-term missions you have participated in, your passions/gifts/abilities, where you think God may be calling you to serve, and any additional information you think may help us know you better.
Sending
For each person GOING to serve on the mission field, SENDERS are also needed back home. Senders play an equally important role in missions by providing the “goers” with moral, logistical, financial, prayer, communication, and re-entry support. At PC3 we have created a Sending Ministry to help connect those at home with those going to serve on the mission field.
Romans 10:13-15 makes it clear that both ‘goers’ and ‘senders’ are necessary to fully complete our mission. We would like to have senders serve on each short-term mission team as well as with all extended-term missionaries, for the purposes of helping with logistics, communication, praying for the team, encouraging them, sending them off, and helping them return. To learn more about this ministry, download the ’Sending at PC3’ document on our Forms page.
Training
Through our required trainings and periodic events, we also seek to inspire and encourage the desire and awareness of becoming a learner throughout the process of one's involvement in missions.
If you are participating in a short term mission at PC3, we want you to be well prepared for it. We want to equip you to serve well and our desire is that you get the maximum benefit from the entire experience – throughout preparation, while on the field, and after you return.
Currently there are three required training modules:
Spiritual Preparation – through an interactive training session, including large and small group discussion, our goal is to help expand your understanding of why we do missions, how our missions activities flow from our relationship with God, how you can take measures to grow in your relationship with God, and how being aware and prepared helps us deal effectively with spiritual warfare.
Cross-cultural Training – our objective is to simulate a cross-cultural experience that is challenging and revealing, yet also fun and engaging. In this exercise called the Luna Game, you will learn important aspects of cross cultural communication, ones that help you in a variety of situations – not just in missions but in everyday life, not just in other countries but also here in your own neighborhood.
Re-entry – the purpose of this training session is to make you aware of the different ways people typically process returning home from a short term mission. We hope to equip you not only to be prepared for a wide range of emotions and handle them in a healthy way, but also to be able to then use what you gained from your mission to springboard into serving, sending, learning, sharing, and engaging in community.
When you apply for a short-term mission, you are committing to complete all the training.
It is preferable that it be completed prior to the submission of your application. After you apply, you will be given further instruction regarding your deadline for training completion. Because expenses are incurred well in advance of the mission, we cannot reimburse your deposit if you fail to meet these training requirements (and are subsequently unable to participate with the rest of your team). Dates and times of the training will be posted in advance; we will provide a reasonable number of options. Look for further notice as to where and when these training sessions are scheduled. It is your responsibility to ensure you meet all the commitments you have made to a mission. To sign up to attend a training session, please see our training schedule.
Giving
There are several new giving opportunities available through HOPE 127, beyond your regular tithe. You can purchase gift cards and make donations to go toward such things as providing clean water for a family in Asia, helping repair homes for families in the Cape Fear region, and providing shoes for someone in Guatemala... And, as always, donations are welcome for our Kenya Project to support the efforts at Mama Hellen's in Nakuru. We hope you'll consider extending your reach through these projects.
