PC3 supports one of our own missionaries, Cary S., and her work in Ethiopia. Cary started out teaching at an international school and working to develop ministries in the community surrounding the school. One ministry begun by this missionary was directed at young women in the neighborhood immediately surrounding the school, who were taught values and morals in hopes of leading them toward knowledge of the Source of those values. Another program Cary was involved in is a program for women at risk, teaching them vocational and life skills. Short-term teams have participated in all these ministry areas, as well as others as opportunities arise.
Cary now works with an organization called ACT (AIDS Care and Treatment). She is working to address the social, emotional, educational and spiritual needs of families in the Addis Ababa community who have been affected by HIV/AIDS. Her role involves a range of ministry facets, including working with coordination orphan care, overseeing tutoring programs, trauma and crisis management, and facilitating support groups.
