FAQ

Who is Grow Zone for?

Grow Zone will take children 6 weeks old to 5 years old who are not enrolled in Kindergarten.

What happens in Grow Zone on a Sunday morning?

Children are assigned to rooms according to their age and/or development. We are intentional about being more than childcare. For ages 1-5, there is a Bible story and lesson to be taught by volunteers each week.

What do you teach?

Everything we teach reflects our four principles. They are:

  1. God made me.
  2. God loves me.
  3. Jesus wants to be my friend forever.
  4. The Bible is God's story and everything in it is true.

Why do rooms "close" down?

For all children’s safety and quality of care, Grow Zone rooms will close and no longer accept children when either the physical space has reached its maximum capacity or when our child-to volunteer ratio is exceeded.

What are your ratios?

Our child-to-volunteer ratios are as follows:

  • Babies: 2 to 1
  • Cruisers: 2 to 1
  • 1-year-olds: 3 to 1
  • 2-year-olds: 4 to 1
  • 3-year-olds: 4 to 1
  • 4-year-olds/Pre-K: 4 to 1

What are the emergency plans?

In case of a fire or another emergency that requires evacuation, volunteers will exit with the children through the nearest rear exit doors.

How are parents paged during the service?

During registration, all children are given nametags with a number while parents receive a tag as well with the matching number. Parents are to keep their tag with them during the service. We will page a parent if a child cries consistently for 10-15 minutes and/or when their behavior becomes unmanageable. If parents are needed, their tag number will appear on the screens during the service. We ask that the parent then report immediately to Grow Zone.

How do we keep Grow Zone safe?

All volunteers have been trained on our guidelines and have had a criminal records check. Also, the only people permitted in the Grow Zone area are Grow Zone children, Grow Zone parents, and Grow Zone volunteers. Parents are required to show the Grow Zone tag upon pick-up and have to present their tag in order to retrieve their children.

How can I help in Grow Zone?

Volunteers are always needed—either to serve on Sunday with the children or during the week preparing for Sunday. Please visit our GZ volunteer page if you are interested in joining our team!
